What's the difference?
Monofilament is a single thread of nylon that is cheap and easy to use. It casts smoothly and holds knots well. It also has some stretch, which can help absorb shock and prevent break-offs. However, it also has memory, which means it can coil and kink over time. It also tends to float, which can be good or bad depending on the situation.
Fluorocarbon is similar to monofilament but more invisible, dense, and abrasion resistant. It sinks in water, which makes it ideal for fishing deep or in clear water. It also has less stretch, which gives you more sensitivity and hook-setting power. However, it is more expensive and harder to knot than monofilament.
Braided line is made of several super-strong fibers woven together. It has no stretch, no memory, and very high abrasion resistance. It also has a thin diameter, which allows you to spool more line and cast farther. However, it is also very visible and can cut through other lines or your fingers if not handled carefully.
